Morgan Mazza, the visionary owner of Surya Yoga Studio, has taken her passion for yoga beyond the studio, offering rejuvenating and unforgettable retreats since June 2019. Her first retreat, held at the stunning Xinalani in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, was an overwhelming success, and since then, she has continued to create transformative experiences in some of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
Every year, Morgan organizes two to three retreats across breathtaking locales in Central America, South America, and Europe. This year alone, I had the incredible fortune to participate in retreats on the Amalfi Coast and Puglia, Italy, as well as the serene island of Amorgos, Greece. Each retreat provides the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and wellness, with thoughtful itineraries that include lodging, two nourishing meals daily, yoga sessions that leave you feeling balanced and revitalized, and a variety of exciting excursions. (Note: Travel expenses are not included, but the all-inclusive feel of the retreat makes everything else stress-free.)
The Amalfi Coast retreat, in particular, was nothing short of magical. We stayed at the gorgeous Villa Solaria, which was not only a feast for the eyes but also for the palate, offering incredible local cuisine. Our adventures included a delightful trip to Sorrento, where we indulged in shopping, local delicacies, and drinks, as well as an unforgettable boat tour of Capri that made me fall in love with the Mediterranean even more. We also explored the ancient ruins of Pompei through a guided tour, hiked the legendary Path of the Gods with its awe-inspiring views, and wandered the chic streets of Positano for more shopping and sightseeing.
Morgan's retreats are more than just a getaway—they are life-affirming journeys that feed the body, mind, and soul. If you're looking for a perfect balance of yoga, cultural immersion, and adventure, I cannot recommend these retreats enough!
The recent Surya Yoga retreat to Amorgos, Greece was not only my first yoga retreat but also my first international trip.
This year has been a year full of “firsts” for me, and Morgan Mazza has been at the forefront of quite a few of them. Visiting Greece has always been a “bucket list” destination for me. However, I lacked the courage to take such a big leap. As a lover of my own comfort zone and being a natural overthinker, I found so many excuses on why I should not go on this retreat. Morgan was extremely supportive and instrumental in helping me make a very informed decision regarding the retreat. She answered all my questions (which were MANY) and put me at ease sharing her own personal travel experiences.
The retreat was truly a dream come true for me. There is no question on how much love and effort Morgan infuses into these retreats, which creates a truly unforgettable experience. Her attention to detail and her personally greeting each of us at our arrival makes these retreats so very personal. The variety of yoga classes offered each day allowed me to fully immerse myself in my yoga practice. I even had the opportunity to try my first “ropes” class on this retreat as well.
The pace of the retreat offers a good balance between work (yoga) and FUN! There was plenty of downtime to enjoy the beautiful resort and there was also the opportunity to participate in exciting excursions to see the sites and explore the beautiful island of Amorgos.
One of my favorite parts of the retreat was sitting down as a group and sharing meals with the other retreat attendees. It was a great opportunity to meet new people that share the love of travel and yoga. Stories and experiences were shared, and new connections were made. And what fantastic meals were shared! Eating Greek dishes made with local, organic ingredients made the retreat a true culinary delight!
In whole, the retreat offered me a beautiful space to slow down and allow myself the time to be fully present. The whole experience deeply changed me and the way I look at life. The retreat served as a catalyst in the best way possible. It opened my eyes and heart to taking more chances and continuing to step out of my comfort zone. There are beautiful experiences waiting for us on the other side of the “comfort fence”. I am forever grateful to Morgan not only for making these types of life changing retreats possible, but also for holding space for those of us who are taking our first swim out to new horizons.
